A more sustainable fuel industry
GIDARA Energy’s first plant is Advanced Methanol Amsterdam (AMA). AMA includes a testing facility, knowledge centre, and pilot plant producing advanced methanol that meets the European biofuel mandate (RED II, June 2021) and local Dutch legislation. Its objective is to contribute to better fuels and a more circular economy while providing port expansion, thus creating more employment. AMA will also cooperate closely with local partners. The complete value chain, including supply and demand, is near the plant.

Ultra-modern plant in the Port of Amsterdam
Advanced Methanol Amsterdam (AMA) is our first commercial plant that will produce advanced methanol for major off-takers. The plant is located in the Port of Amsterdam, connected to the Technical University Darmstadt and a major local university, through which GIDARA Energy has access to a wide array of state-of-the-art experts on top of GIDARA Energy’s in-house expertise.

Beyond incineration
The way the HTW® gasification technology is used by GIDARA Energy is much more sustainable than traditional methods such as incineration. Our technology has proven to be more efficient as all side streams can be put to use. Gasification-based processes result in much lower emissions of pollutants compared to conventional combustion.

Our patented HTW® gasifier
The High-Temperature Winkler (HTW®) technology is one of the oldest gasification technologies. In 2019, GIDARA Energy acquired the HTW® technology from ThyssenKrupp, further developing the technology for modern applications.
The focus of GIDARA is reliability. Whereas some other technology owners have only achieved weeks of continuous operations as a maximum or take a non-proven process for gas treatment and methanol product, we rely on multi-decade proven operation.
Our goal is to meet the demand for cleaner fuels, reduce global emissions, reduce waste and create a more circular economy.
